Our friends Dave and Sofia bought this parrilla grill (barbecue) awhile ago, but then realized it was too big for their patio. So they brought it over to our place Saturday and we took it for a test run. They brought the meat and we picked up vegetables and beverages, plus stuff for mashed potatoes. Here are the beautiful veggies we got from our local market:
(I won’t show you the “pre” condition of the meat; it’s pretty bloody!) We managed to get the grill going by using an entire bottle of lighter fluid (marketed under the very exciting name of PyroGrill). A fire erupted, mesmerizing everyone.
…at which point our grill turned into more of a smoker… "Smoke follows beauty," as my Uncle Don (himself a champion griller) likes to say, which I guess makes Dave our resident beauty.
The end result was fantastico! It included veggies plus ribs, blood sausage, chorizo sausage, and flank steak.
The proud chef:
In typical Argentine style, our first little dinner party went until 5:30AM…! I can’t believe we are getting used to this kind of schedule but we are.
